Deep Link Tester

Open any deep link on a real device. Enter a Universal Link, App Link, custom scheme or intent URL, then tap it or scan it on your phone.

  • Free
  • No account needed
  • Results you can share

Builds an intent:// URL that names your app, for example com.example.app.

Try:

How the test works
  1. Paste a link to see what kind it is
  2. Scan the QR code to open this test on your phone
  3. Tap Open link: apps only open from a real tap
  4. Jump to the iOS and Android file checks for HTTPS links

How to use it

  1. Paste the link you want to test. The page URL updates so you can share the exact test.
  2. Scan the first QR code with your phone. It opens this page, with your link, on the device.
  3. Tap Open link. This is a real tap, which is what iOS and Android need to hand the link to an app.
  4. For an HTTPS link that opens the browser instead, check the apple-app-site-association and assetlinks.json files with the links shown under the result.

When a link opens the browser instead of the app

  • The app is not installed, or the installed build does not declare the domain (Associated Domains on iOS, an intent filter with autoVerify on Android).
  • The verification file is missing, redirects, or does not list this path, app ID or certificate.
  • On iOS, the link was tapped on a page from the same domain, or the user previously chose to open this domain in Safari. Long-press the link and choose Open in the app to reset that.
  • The link was typed, pasted, or opened from browser history rather than tapped.
  • An in-app browser (for example in a social app) handled the link without passing it to the system.

Frequently asked questions

How do I test a deep link on my phone?
Enter the link, scan the first QR code with your phone to open this page there, then tap Open link. Tapping matters: iOS and Android only hand a link to an app when the user taps it, not when the URL is typed or pasted into the browser.
Why does pasting a deep link into the browser not open my app?
iOS never opens Universal Links typed into Safari's address bar, and Chrome on Android will not launch an app from a navigation that started with a typed or pasted URL. Test with a link you tap, for example from this page, a note or a message.
What is the difference between a custom scheme and a Universal Link or App Link?
A custom scheme such as myapp://product/1 only works when the app is installed, and any app can claim the same scheme. Universal Links on iOS and App Links on Android are HTTPS URLs verified against a file on your domain, so they open only your app and fall back to the web page when the app is not installed.
What is an Android intent URL?
An intent:// URL tells Chrome on Android which app package should handle a link and where to go if it is not installed, using S.browser_fallback_url. It is a reliable way to open a custom-scheme link from a web page on Android.
